At pickUP, we’ve always been about more than just getting you from Point A to Point B. We are a community-first app, and we believe that being part of a community means showing up when it matters most.
Christmas in Barbados is a time of joy, family, and celebration, but we know that for many, it can also be a season of need. That’s why, for the past few years, we’ve made it our mission to use our fleet for a different kind of important journey—delivering hope and holiday cheer to families across the island.
A 3-Year Tradition with Dear Uncle Marz
For the last three years, we have been incredibly proud to partner with the Dear Uncle Marz Charity. If you aren’t familiar with their work, they are a beacon of light during the holiday season, gathering food, toys, and essential supplies for families who might otherwise go without.
Our role? We trade our taxi signs for sleigh bells (metaphorically speaking!) and help manage the logistics of getting these care packages where they need to go. Since 2023, our drivers have volunteered their time and vehicles to ensure that hampers are delivered directly to doorsteps. It is a partnership that warms our hearts every single year, and we are honored to continue supporting the Dear Uncle Marz team in their mission to ensure no family is left behind this Christmas.
New This Year: Partnering with the Matcha Run Club & Bajans Helping Bajans
This year, we are thrilled to expand our circle of giving. We are excited to announce that pickUP will also be assisting the Matcha Run Club with their holiday initiative!
Community groups like the Matcha Run Club are the heartbeat of our island, bringing people together for health, fun, and now, charity. We will be working alongside them to facilitate similar deliveries, ensuring that even more food and supplies reach those in need across Barbados. It’s a beautiful example of how different parts of our community, from taxis and tech startups to fitness clubs, can come together for a common cause.
