Bajans, This One’s for You — Why pickUP Isn’t Just for Tourists.

March 23, 2026

We love our visitors. Welcoming people to this island and showing them why Barbados is special – that’s a big part of what pickUP is all about. But let’s be real for a second: we built this app for everyone on this rock.

Because Bajans know better than anyone that getting around the island isn’t always simple. The bus schedule has its own interpretation of “on time.” Finding a ZR at certain hours is a gamble. And calling around for a taxi on a Friday night, especially during Crop Over? Yea, good luck with that.

Here are a few scenarios where pickUP makes life easier for locals:

  • The after-work lime that goes a bit longer than planned. You told yourself you were leaving at 7. It’s now 9:30, you’re a few rums deep, and the idea of driving home is off the table. Open the app, book a ride, done. No calling five numbers hoping someone picks up.
  • Your car is in the shop. We’ve all been there. The mechanic said “tomorrow” three days ago, and now you need to get the kids to school and yourself to work. pickUP is the backup plan that actually works.
  • Crop Over, Kadooment, and every fete in between. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that Bajans don’t do things halfway when it’s time to celebrate. Between the cooler, the costume, and the crew, you need a ride that can handle the energy – and get everyone home safe at the end of the night.
  • Hospital visits, errands, airport runs for family coming in… the list goes on. The point is, pickUP isn’t a “tourist thing.” It’s a Barbados thing.

Download the app, save it for when you need it, and next time you find yourself needing a ride, you’ll have a plan. We’re here for the whole year, not just the high season.
